Links I’m Loving

How is it Friday again already? I mean, I’ll take it, for sure. This week just flew by, though, which has been amazing. (Aside from trying to adjust to Daylight Savings Time, which has been ROUGH, it’s been a good week.)

With that, here are some things I’ve been loving this past week:

  • Kevin and I spent last weekend at the beach with four great friends and lucked out with incredible weather on Saturday (I have the former-sunburn-now-tan-lines to prove it!). While there, we celebrated our friend Jodi’s birthday (a few days early) complete with a double chocolate cake (the recipe comes highly recommended by my trusted food mentor Ina Garten), and I just had to share the recipe with y’all. It’s a good one, to be sure.

  • Speaking of cakes (and Jodi’s birthday, for that matter), we followed up the beach birthday celebration with a dinner on Jodi’s actual birthday, this past Wednesday. I couldn’t help myself, and just had to bake another cake to mark the REAL occasion. This time I went in the complete opposite direction, with a very vanilla cake (and vanilla icing), recipe courtesy of Serious Eats. It’s essentially a homemade funfetti cake (which was perfect, as Jodi loves sprinkles) and was amazing. I’ll be making this cake again for sure!

  • Okay, so this actually happened a couple of weeks ago, but I wanted to share it with y’all in case there are other Flight of the Conchords fans out there who want to participate. My friend Bethany and Kevin and I bought tickets to see our favorite New Zealanders perform in Cary, North Carolina, this July (at the amazing Koka Booth Amphitheater, where Kevin and I saw Nickel Creek and Josh Ritter a couple of years ago). Check out the duo’s tour schedule to see if they’re coming to a city near you! I saw Bret and Jemaine live in Chicago several years ago and it was incredible. I highly recommend catching these guys live if you’re a fan!

  • I’ve loved Carrie Underwood’s Calia line for a while now (I have a couple of tanks from the line that I LOVE), and I revisited the site this week after not checking it out for a while and was reminded how much I like the look. The muted colors and floral prints and classic pieces — yes, please!

Have a happy Friday, everyone!
