This past weekend we were here in town, which felt like a bit of a luxury after all the traveling we’ve been doing all summer. Kevin and I are very much on-the-go type people, which is always fun, but then it makes those weekends that we’re at home and less scheduled feel like a vacation, too.
Saturday morning was spent celebrating my friend Watson, who’s having her second baby girl in September. My friend Micheal and I threw Watson a “sprinkle” (not a shower, since she didn’t need as much baby gear this time around) at Mary’s Gourmet Diner (formerly Mary’s Breakfast of Course), which has the very best brunch here in Winston. (But you don’t have to take my word for it.) We had a blast, especially since there were lots of kiddos present at the party (which always makes for some quality entertainment). In addition to the delicious brunch, we enjoyed cupcakes from Camino (seriously amazing and not too sweet) and gave away Hubert’s lemonade (in pink flavors) as favors, since lemonade is Watson’s pregnancy cravings drink, hands down. (Actually, she only likes lemonade when she’s pregnant.)
Saturday afternoon/evening consisted of much-needed pedicures with my friend Mary followed by Thai take-out and a movie at Mary and Allen’s. (We watched Mud, with Matthew McConaughey and Reese Witherspoon, and it was really good.)
Today started strong with a classy Biscuitville breakfast (meaning it was eaten off of real plates rather than the sandwich wrappers) and then some Dexter, Season 7 (the one with Hannah McKay — it’s so good!) with Kevin.
On the agenda for the rest of the day? Food prep for next week, heading to work to finish up a presentation for Wednesday, Pure Barre, and drinks with a friend.
How are you spending your weekend?
