As I’ve professed before, “crafty” certainly isn’t a word I’d use to describe myself. That doesn’t mean, though, that I don’t admire the crafts others produce, nor that I don’t aspire to start incorporating more DIY-type projects into my life. I just feel like I need to start small — which starts with gathering inspiration from others.
Over the last few weeks, I’ve seen holiday crafts galore gracing my Facebook feed, friends’ Pinterest boards, and blogs I follow. I feel simultaneously inspired and also seriously overwhelmed by so much savvy decorating. Though I have the very best of intentions and really love Christmas, it was all I could do to get our decorations (which essentially consist of a pre-lit fake tree, stockings, and a couple of music boxes) up a couple of weeks ago. I bought a Moravian star light for our porch last weekend — again with the good intentions, and in an effort to add some festive joy to our porch — and it is currently sitting on our dining room table, unlit. Case in point: decorator I am not.
That said, here are just a few of the aforementioned crafts, decorations, and projects that I’ve seen — and lusted over — recently. And who knows? Maybe next year will be the year I’ll actually add some of these to our house. Goodness knows we could use a few more decorations!
- Mason jar snow globes. How cute are these??:
- This wreath is made out of thumb tacks. Pretty cool, huh?:
- Share a holiday-themed message — in a super cute way:
- Our tree currently has no skirt. One like this could be great!:
- Getting crafty with the wrapping? Let’s be honest: maybe the year after next:
For those of you sure-to-be-craftier-than-I-am readers: please share some of your favorite holiday projects that I can add to my inspiration/wish list!
