September 11 is, of course, a day to remember a tragic event in our nation’s history, but at our house it’s also a day to remember a happy milestone. Ten years ago today, Kevin proposed to me! (It’s so hard to believe it’s been that long…) Every single day I’m grateful he asked me that question, and I’m so glad I said yes.
We’re also excited at Casa Keller today because my parents are coming to visit today! YAY! They live in Atlanta, and are driving up to spend the weekend with us. Even though the weather forecast is predicting lots of rain (BOO), we know we’ll still have a great time being together. (Maggie cried this morning because she misunderstood and thought Mimi and Papa were going to be here when she woke up, so I think it’s safe to say she’s VERY excited to see them, too.)
Before we start enjoying the weekend with my parents, I thought I’d share a few favorites of late. Many of them are food related, so we’ll start with those, shall we?:
- I’ve made two muffin recipes recently that are definitely worth sharing! These 1-Bowl Vegan Blueberry Muffins hit the spot when I made them for my birthday a few weeks ago, and this morning Maggie and I were in a fall mood and whipped up a batch of The Colorful Kitchen’s Vegan Pumpkin Pie Spice Everything Muffins. Um, YUM. We are big fans of these already.

- I’d been craving a good fruit crisp all summer, and somehow just got around to making one a couple of weeks ago. It was worth the wait, though: This Summer Blackberry and Blueberry Crumble recipe is to die for. Simple, not too sweet, and perfect when topped with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. (I know we’re kind of switching gears into fall, but it’s not too late to enjoy this delicious dessert!)

- As we’re all navigating this strange world we find ourselves in, I’ve been so grateful for friends I can share this journey with as well as posts and articles that share others’ perspective and helpful tools and mindsets. I really liked this article from The Washington Post about a way we can choose to navigate right now. A great quote from it: “For now, in all this crazy uncertainty, let’s opt into being as gentle as we can with ourselves and with those we love. Mental health is important. But it does not need to hinge on the disappointments and losses of this season. Instead, it can hinge on how we help our loved ones process those disappointments, and then pivot to helping them get their needs met in new and creative ways.” Have you read any articles that have resonated with you particularly strongly? I would love for you to share them, if so!
- And finally, I did some online shopping at Old Navy this past week for a few maternity pieces I’m excited to get! I have some maternity clothes from my pregnancy with Maggie, but it’s fun to add a few new things to the mix as well. I grabbed this henley, this adorable sweatshirt, this tank (in both gray and black) that I know will be great basic layering pieces for fall and winter, this cozy-looking sherpa jacket, and this puffer vest. Which is your favorite? (The animal print sweatshirt might be mine!)

Hope you have a happy Friday and a wonderful weekend ahead!
