We’ve not only survived another week, we’ve done it in the sunshine (we Southerners have, at least). The weather here in Winston-Salem has been incredible over the past few days, and as a result I’ve found myself drawn to all things summertime. Bring on the maxi dresses, the bright colors, and the sprinkles. All the sprinkles. (Who’s with me?)
Speaking of the beach…Kevin and I are headed there this weekend (with some amazing friends), and I can’t wait to soak in some sunshine (finally!).
With that, here are links I’ve been loving this week:
- Maxi dresses are my FAVORITE attire in the spring and summertime, and I’m especially loving the look of this flowy, pleated Urban Outfitters pick. (Doesn’t the 5-year-old in you just love this ballet top??)
- These homemade animal crackers (cookies?) are too cute. I might just have to order a set of animal cookie cutters (just $5.45 on Amazon!) for my kitchen so I can make some, too.
- Loving the fringe on these sandals from Target!
- This Conscious Cleanse Kale Superfood Salad is incredible, and full of healthy goodness. Please make it for a meal or two next week (you’ll get about four servings out of one batch). You won’t regret it. (Kevin’s already asked me to make it again.)

- Itching to do some spring cleaning at your house now that you can open your windows and air everything out? Here are some tips for how to structure your clean-up efforts, and what to focus on.
- This story about a penguin named Dindim who spends eight months every year with the Brazilian man who saved his life, returning every June after swimming about 5,000 miles, is just too sweet not to read.
- I appreciated these thoughts from Emily and Alina at the blog Cupcakes & Cashmere about turning 30, and agree with many of their comments. I especially identified with this thought from Emily, regarding pushing the boundaries of your comfort zone: “For someone who often fights change, I place even more importance on the idea that I should be stepping out of my comfort zone with increased regularity. The older I’ve gotten, the more I’ve realized that the opportunities that make me the most scared are usually the ones that are going to produce the most impactful change. So my new motto is: if it makes me nervous, it’s probably something I should consider, whether that relates to my job, friendships, or as a parent.” I’ve said something similar many times: looking back on my life, it’s the things that have scared me the most that have also helped me grow the most. Those are the things I’m most proud of, which is a truth I try to remind myself of when new (sometimes scary) challenges present themselves.
