Maggie Monday (July 9, 2018)

What an amazing past few days we’ve had! Kevin, Maggie, and I spent last week (Saturday, June 30 through Saturday, July 7) at the beach (Oak Island, North Carolina) with Kevin’s family and had an absolutely incredible time. We rented a house so the whole family (Kevin’s parents, his brother and sister-in-law who live in Atlanta, and his sister, brother-in-law, and their two teenage boys who live near Portland, Oregon) could stay together, and we had a blast. The weather was incredible, and Maggie adored the time she spent with her aunts, uncles, cousins, and — most especially — her Gram and Gramps. Maggie gets more fun every time we take her to the beach. She’s begun to love the water, and is also a fan of collecting shells in her bucket.

(Oh, and yes, this is a plug, but it’s also legit: We loved using Beautycounter’s new Countersun sunscreen on Maggie! Her suuuuper pale skin didn’t get a single bit burned, and the sunscreen smells great and rubs in well. The formula is super safe, and there’s even a spray version. I used it on myself, too, all week and didn’t get burned, which is not typical for me after a week at the beach! I tend to have at least one spot where I’ve managed to miss applying sunscreen, but because this spray goes on white and then rubs in, you can make sure you’re applying it thoroughly.)

Then on Saturday morning we headed to Columbia, South Carolina, to celebrate my nephew’s first birthday! (How has it been a year already?? These babies are growing up too fast!) We always love getting Maggie and Benjamin, who are just over three months apart, together. Each visit gets even more fun, and it’s hilarious to watch their (very different!) personalities start to come out already! (So far, Maggie seems to be calling the shots. We’ll see if that continues!)

It was also fun squeezing in some Mimi and Papa time before the birthday festivities. Maggie-girl got to spend time with BOTH sets of grandparents last week. What a lucky (and loved) girl!

Getting back to reality after a week away is never easy, but I feel so grateful for the time we had to unplug from email a bit and be present with some of our very favorite people.

Oh, and I’ll leave you with these photos: Maggie has decided that her new go-to “outfit” is her puddle jumper floaties paired with a huge cooler bag. I think she’s hinting that she’s ready for a pool day! 🙂
