Resilience Gives (A Giveaway + A Peek Into An Amazing Company)

Ugly socks and hospitals are synonymous, right? It’s a given. You know, those non-slip socks that usually come in pretty terrible colors?

Well, Resilience Gives is changing that given. As it turns out, for people who find themselves in a hospital for days or weeks on end, something seemingly as small as a pair of socks can help boost their spirits and remind them of who they are at a time when their life is full of question marks.

Resilience Gives works with patients to design socks that are representative of who they are and what they’re going through, and then they produce those socks for both the designer to wear and for others to buy. And it gets better. A full 50% of profits made on every single pair of socks is donated to help patients pay for medical care and to go toward medical research.

The folks at Resilience Gives let me pick out a pair of socks, and I chose The Bear, which is a sock designed by Barrett Nichols to express his love of the outdoors, hiking, and travel.

The socks are so comfortable, and they come in a box that includes information about the person who designed them, which is a really cool touch:

The founder of Resilience Gives happens to have a local connection: he’s a Wake Forest grad, and so the company is based right here in Winston-Salem! Several sock designers for Resilience Gives happen to be right here in the Triad as well. Check out Matt from Winston-Salem’s Sauce Boss socks showing his love for Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ Sauce. Lilli from Greensboro designed these adorable Lilli Owl socks to represent an animal that was present in some way throughout her care.
